Psst, want to talk about Christmas?

In Cork, we have an unwritten rule that The Holly Bough magazine is the first sign of Christmas. This is different for everyone of course, some people will wait for the switching on of the Christmas lights, or the ads for the Christmas Panto, or they might even wait for The Late Late Toy Show. But typically one of the earliest signs will be the bright red cover of The Holly Bough tucked neatly into the newspaper stand of nearly every shop in the county.

There are more intense people who will take the opening of the Christmas shop in Brown Thomas as their cue to start talking about and planning their Christmas. And for some people there’s no starting point because there’s no ending point. They will talk about Christmas all year. They won’t stop.

I am one of those people.

So this blog came about because I have always wanted to start a blog and I am always down to talk about Christmas. And I only recently realized that I could combine these two ideas.

So what can you expect from this blog?

  • Christmassy things to do in Cork (and beyond)
  • Christmas Markets
  • Festive traditions and how they’ve changed
  • Just what is the best Christmas song? And movie? And book?
  • Where can you get best the hot chocolate?
  • Decorations (Oh, you won’t believe how much we’re going to talk about decorations)
  • And so much more.

So pull up a seat, grab your favourite hot drink and let’s chat about all things Christmas.
