All the Pretty Colours.

Halloween is over, it’s the start of Winter and Mariah Carey has declared it’s time for Christmas. So I’m going to start talking about decorations and you can too. (It’s fine, Mariah said it’s fine).

Personally, I can’t get enough of the traditional red, gold, and green but maybe just thinking about red and green baubles everywhere is making your head hurt. Don’t reach for the paracetamol just yet because we are going to talk about three decorating trends that will delight you

Winter Nights

The first trend is based on the winter landscape and it uses a combination of blue, white, and silver to evoke snowy landscapes and starlit evenings. It’s ethereal, calming and so, so pretty. While this is a celebration of winter, it can prove too cold or dark for someso warm it up with a few purple accents.

Romantic Forest

If the Winter trend is too cold or harsh for your tastes, this trend uses softer colours but still draws from nature. This scheme also uses a wider palette of colours comprising of blush pink, pale green, gold, cream, and some soft browns. You can create a magical woodland scene filled with fairies or unicorns, or go for an earthier scheme packed with animals and birds.

Colour!

I’m cheating a bit here because I don’t know if colour can be classed as a trend, but if the other schemes are too confining for you, try a full array of colours. There is a huge selection of coloured decorations available and we have seen a boom of novelty decorations in the last few years. The eclectic nature of this scheme means that every decoration will fit in. Combine handmade decorations with glass baubles and make it all your own.

So those are three possibilities for your decorating and there’s so many more out there. There is something for everyone so don’t worry about what’s in style and choose to decorate in a way that will make you smile when you walk in.

Let me know how you decorate your space and if any of these trends have inspired you
