We can definitely talk about Christmas now.

Hello everyone, we are back! Well I am, I can’t speak for anyone else. But if you are back with me, you can expect to hear about Cork and it’s many wonderful Christmassy events. We are going to talk about Christmas traditions, decorations, and whatever takes our festive fancy. And I am very excited.

So I want to try something a little bit different this year. We are going to talk about Christmas events and traditions, but I am going to give advanced notice about some events so that as many people are possible can enjoy them too. And as always, we focus on Cork but we may venture beyond Cork.

So where are we at in the Christmas prep right now? Most of the shops are dressed for Christmas but the city decorations are not lighting yet. In previous years, crowds would pack into the city center to see the lights being switched on. This hasn’t been possible over the last few years (no reason for that, don’t ask). And it will not be happening this year as it presents a risk of overcrowding. So seeing the lights on a dark evening will be a delightful surprise for everyone. Also, most towns will have their own lighting celebrations that are often more enjoyable than the city lights.

We also have the Glow Festival, an interactive light display that is set up in the Bishop Lucey Park. There was some doubt that the Glow Festival would go ahead this year (we will talk about that in a later post) but it has been confirmed, so we will definitely be talking about the Glow Festival.

There will also be oodles of markets and concerts to attend. So we are going to have plenty to talk about. And, if you have any traditions or events coming up, please let me know. I want to know, I’m nosy like that.

Talk to you soon,

Sinead.
